Good reading!

What is a podcast?

Do you often listen to a radio program? If so, this is a good starting point for you to better understand what a podcast is.

Similar to radio programs, podcasts produce content in audio format. But the big difference is that in this format, the internet is used as a base and the audio file is recorded, that is, you can listen wherever and whenever you want.

Despite not being new, as the format has existed since 2004, podcasts have only gained fame in Brazil in recent years with streaming platforms.

Today, it is possible to listen to programs on channels such as: YouTube, Spotify, Google podcast, and there are many companies that invest in their own websites to release exclusive content.

After conquering the world, the format became the trend of the moment and as a consequence, today there are more than 2 million programs of podcasts. Within these numbers, there are podcasts of different types and below we will talk more about them.

What types of podcasts?

Surely at some point you must have heard of podcasts, what you may not know is that there are four formats. Want to know what they are? Below, we will list them and explain each one of them in detail.

Informative: almost like news, computer podcasts have a more journalistic touch and bring great information in their productions, as is the case of the podcast from Newspaper.
Interview: to be a podcast template is one of the most common, where the interviewer receives a guest to answer some questions, that is, to be interviewed. In this type of podcast, it is important to bring different guests to each episode, from experts to influential people.
Roundtable/Chat:either with the same people or with different guests in each program, the objective of this audio content is to chat about a certain subject with different views. An example of a round table is the Podcast Pass Line from ESPN Brazil.
Monologue: Finally, there are podcasts in monologue format, where only the presenter speaks. Generally, these programs are geared toward telling stories, answering questions, or teaching something.

Okay, once you understand the types of podcasts, I imagine you're eager to take the next step: getting your show on the air. But, after all, where to start create a podcast? This you find out in the next topic!

Step by step to structure a good podcast

With the planning in hand, now it's time to create your first script and invest in the production of podcasts in your own business. To help you with this mission, we have gathered in this post all the essential elements that need to be contained in a good script. Come on?

vignette

If you were wondering where to start your podcast, know that the first step is to produce a good vignette.

In practice, the vignette opens your program and can create a certain identification with your audience, so it must be visually pleasing and very dynamic.

Presentation

After the vignette, it was time for the announcer to introduce himself and reveal who his guests were. To write the presentation, think about the way you speak. Remember to be direct but add your personality to the text.

Put in your script who you are and who the participants in that episode are, highlighting what they do. If you are an expert on the subject or have years in the area, highlight such information to attract more audiences.

Introduction

Between us, the introduction is one of the most important parts of the script. After all, this is where you match the presentation to the content and introduce your audience to the topic of the podcast. In addition, this is the great moment to capture the user's attention (a mission that is not always easy)

To do this, you can start by drawing up an overview of the topic. Make a brief introduction, using striking quotes or data to strengthen the relevance of the topic, as in the example below.

"You may have already noticed from the team of specialists present that today we are going to talk about Educational Marketing. In fact, we are going to discuss here one of the biggest problems in education: school dropout. Just so you have an idea, 3.5 million students left college in 2021. And the big question is: how to get around this situation?

Did you notice that when we talk about the team of specialists, we link the presentation to the content? We use the data to give even more credibility and arouse the reader's curiosity with a question.

Regardless of how you choose to introduce the subject, whether with a sentence or data, remember that you need to speak the language of your target audience, right?

Content development

It's time to develop your podcast agenda! At this stage of the script, put all your knowledge about the subject into practice.

For example, if your podcast is a monologue, this is the time to delve deeper into the topic. The tip is: separate your agenda into topics that you would like to address during the episode.

And if you opt for an interview or round table, write the questions for your interviewee or the issues that will be discussed by the group.

Remember that development centralizes most of the program, this is where the public's real interest lies and can help you to conduct your podcast in a fluid way, integrating all the guests.

Since this is the longest part of your podcast, you can include "breaths," which are quick breaks with a focus on renewing attention or changing the topic of the day. At this point, you can add elements such as: vignette, music or even advertisements.

Conclusion

You may have noticed that throughout this script we have divided the topics into: introduction, development and conclusion. We did this because, like a good text, a podcast needs to have a beginning, middle and end.

And speaking of the end, it's time to wrap up your show. But, this cannot be done abruptly.

After so many questions and topics, many things were said by your interviewees, huh? Therefore, this is the moment for you, the presenter, to close the subject by making a conclusion about what was discussed throughout the episode.

Closure

To close the script of the podcast with a golden key, dedicate the end to thank your guests and the audience. Invite your listeners to learn about other content on your platform and share it on their social networks.

You can even give a little spoiler of what they should expect from the next episode or ask them to leave suggestions for themes for future productions in the comments. Okay, after that, just upload the final vignette and your podcast is ready!

Extra Tips:

We know that producing a podcast may not be an easy task and until you get it in a fluid format, you can break your head a little. With that in mind, here are some extra tips to make your production easier:

  1. Know your audience;
  2. Think of interesting topics;
  3. Use words that are easy to pronounce;
  4.  Write your script like you speak;
